Mangaluru, Jul 16: Mangaluru city police have arrested six students of a private nursing college in the city here on Friday, July 16 for allegedly ragging the junior students.
The arrested accused are identified as 20-year-olds Shreelal, Shahid, Amjad, Juraij, Hussain and Lims.
As per the complaint filed by the complainants, on July 14 at 8 pm they had been to dinner at the Fil Fil restaurant in Falnir. When the victims were having their dinner, accused Shreelal, who is also their senior in college, abused them. He said to have used foul language and made a comment stating that 'juniors should respect the seniors'.
Later that night at 10.30 pm, while victims were in their apartment, accused Shreelal, Shahid, Amjad, Juraij, Hussain and Lims barged into their room with lethal weapons and resorted to ragging. The six accused also attacked the complainants and threatened to end their life if the victims did not bow their heads upon seeing the seniors.
Police have booked the accused under sections 143, 147, 148, 448, 323, 324, 504, 506 of IPC and 116 of Karnataka Education Act.
