Bengaluru, Jul 16: Former Congress president, Rahul Gandhi has asked the AICC social media cell chairman, Rohan Gupta to look into and adopt the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee chief, D K Shivakumar’s Digital Youth Model at the national level.
KPCC social media cell chairman, B R Naidu spoke to Gandhi through video conferencing, when he requested the former Congress president to adopt the Digital Youth Model taken up by the state Congress president for easy and effective implementation of the party programmes.
In a media release, Naidu said Rahul Gandhi agreed to the suggestion and asked Rohan Gupta to take it up at the national level.
"Social media is an extremely important tool for public discourse. We see many times that BJP has used the media and social media to create fake propaganda and even sensationalised lies and the party must counter it,’’ Naidu said.
In his response, Rahul Gandhi said that it is not possible to successfully counter false propaganda or fake news. Still, it is possible to bring out the true facts and present them before the people, who will understand what is true and false. Gandhi also referred to the BJP claims about the Modi government’s successful handling of the Covid pandemic or that China has not encroached Indian territory and the reality is known to everybody, Naidu said.
