Mangaluru: Massive landslide near Kulshekar to affect rail movement

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Jul 16: Due to the incessant rains that are lashing the coastal districts of the state, a massive landslide occurred near the tunnel on Kulshekar-Padil stretch of railway track falling under the limits of Southern Railway on Friday July 16.

Though the railway department had constructed a retainer wall near the track, the mud from the landslide fell on the tracks as the size of the hill that collapsed was quite huge.

The railway department officials said that movement of all trains passing through this track will get affected.

Railway workmen are on the job of removing the mud from the tracks.

There are really some volnerable points where because of climatic conditions, the railway tracts are exposed to dangerous exposures. Things will get normalised soon as season changes its course. Our Railway tracts are normally well planned and built and they will last and remain with us for ever. Normal maintainance works are being done; and we have quite a good efficient Engineers as well as Work Force with us. Let us thank our Stars which by the help of our Great God Almighty keeps His ever Vigilent Eyes on us always !

Better to bring Expert engineers from China or Japan for the permanent solution to build retaining walls throughout Konkan Railway. That's the best solution.
