Bengaluru, July 14: Asking Congressmen in the state to visit the houses of the poor and vulnerable sections and those affected by the Covid pandemic and help them as far as possible, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) D K Shivakumar said the partymen must stand with people and extend their support to the people.
Distributing free food kits to the poor organised by Congress MLA KN Subba Reddy at Bagepally in Kolar district on Wednesday, he said Congress party believes in helping the people and standing with them in their hour of need.
He said party leader Subba Reddy has distributed 81,000 food kits, 20 kgs of rice, edible oils and other food articles to the people. "I and Congress opposition leader in the Assembly Siddaramaiah have come to participate in the programme as we want to stand with them,’’ he said and pointed out that the State Government has totally failed the people and done nothing to protect the lives of the people.
Former chief minister and senior Congress leader, M Veerappa Moily, KPCC working president, B Ramalinga Reddy, MLA V Muniyappa, DCC president, Keshava Reddy and other party leaders attended the function.
Earlier, AICC spokesperson, Supriya Shrinate and State Mahila Congress president, Pushpa Amarnath called on Shivakumar at his residence in Bengaluru.
Hirahadagali Sri Sadguru Shivayogi Halaswamiji of Vijayanagar district also met KPCC president, Shivakumar.
