Bantwal, Jul 13: To create awareness on containing the spread of the Covid-19 virus, KSRTC has launched the 'Sarige Suraksha ICU' bus on Tuesday, July 13 on the premises of Polali Rajarajeshwari Temple.
District in-charge minister, Kota Srinivas Poojary, MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel in the presence of Bantwal MLA, Rajesh Naik launched the bus service.
Bantwal taluk is the first to get the facility among the Mangaluru and Puttur KSRTC divisions.
On the occasion, endowment department commissioner, Rohini Sindhuri, district deputy commissioner, Dr Rajendra KV, KSRTC Puttur division controller, Jayakara Shetty, BC Road depot manager, Shrisha Bhat, officers, Ramesh Shetty, Ravina, Dr Manjaya Shetty, administrator of Polali Temple, Tharanath Alva, Soorya Narayana Rao, Jayamma, temple priest, Madhava Bhat, BUDA president, Devadas Shetty and others were present.
The bus consists of a clinic including a bed, oxygen cylinders, BP monitoring instrument, ECG units and other medical equipment like a ventilator, medicines for emergencies, and a generator.
Special writeups have been displayed on the bus. The bus will visit villages every two months and provide treatment to the public. Doctors and health workers will also be on the bus.
