Kundapur, Jul 12: A person, capitalizing on certain differences which arose between lovers, convinced the lady that he would be able to do her justice. In the name of bribing the news publications and police, he also fleeced her, the lady said in a complaint made in Shankaranarayana police station. On the basis of her complaint, the police arrested the accused and produced him in the court upon which he was released on bail.

The lady from Nencharu within the limits of Shankaranarayana police station is said to have been in love with Yogeesh Naik from Halady and Naik too was in love with her, it is learnt. Later, some differences arose between the two, after which the lady had complained to Shankaranarayana police station. The two sides met at the police station where it was decided that the two would part ways.

The lady, working as a nurse in a hospital in the town, came across Shekhar Balegar from Katbelthoor, who had visited the hospital where she works, in connection with the health problems of his wife. The lady came in contact with Balegar in the hospital, after which she explained the problems she was facing, it is said. Balegar succeeded in making her believe that he is close to certain officers and newspaper people. He convinced her to hand over to him a total sum of Rs 95,000 on three different occasions purportedly for paying to the police and the newspapers. He also demanded a further sum of one lac rupees, the complainant has claimed in her complaint. When she said she does not have that much money, he threatened her with publishing articles about her in the newspapers and blackmailed her with the threat of tarnishing her image, she stated.

The police arrested Shekhar Balegar on Saturday July 10 evening and produced him before the judge on Sunday. The judge granted bail to the accused. The case is being pursued by the Shankaranarayana police.

Mangalurean, headlines of the news itself says whats the matter is !!! Why to arrest the lady ? Your so called friend squeezed 95,000/- on the false promise that he will help her out and he knows influential people. He had come to hospital to treat his wife. He should have treated and should have buzzed off and concentrate on his work instead of showing fake concern to her. Such a hefty and tagda fellow could not work and earn money of his own ???someones hard earned money he wants to enjoy with ? Over that, tried to loot one lac. Most painful part is if she doesn't give, he would publish in the daily and spoil her life. Who is heartless here ? Who is shameless? Man cheats a lady and squeezes money a weak lady ?? If you want to see her or why not arrested, please go to Kundapur, Nencharu within the limits of Shankaranarayana police station. I dont know who has hit so many agrees?? You have written the comment exactly opposite to this article. You and your agreed people are known to say white as black and black as white ...openly

Cynthia, I wrote earlier "In the foolish country, women are always innocent". So the titles of the articles ALWAYS blame men. Other men read the articles, and demand "Hang him in public!" But one must read the small print. The small print tells us who made the grand plans? It is the "innocent" women! Men are usually bakras. So men easily fall for women's schemes. One man (the one who took 95k) turned out a little smarter. Now the world knows how the woman wanted to publish "mirch masala" in the newspapers! What a heartless woman!

Mangalurian, why a married man has no sense to fall in the hands of woman who made plans according to you. My dear, again you are saying mirch masala. Your frend is the one who blackmailed that nurse and threatened her to publish her name in the papers if she doesn't give one lac extra. It he is a family man, if he is a decent guy, he would have avoided in the very beginning when she approached him...Every time, if you accuse women, its condemnable. All suh problems happen because of the unnecessary involvement of men into the problems of other ladies..either for money or for enjoyment..Lan sir, please dont read our kitipiti...

The fact that this article invites lesser comments than the previous one, reflects the hatred towards a community by the public. And this exactly how the rigging of mind happens by politicians to suit their needs. Same propaganda was used by nazis against jews

when a lady is cheated by same religion, no sympathy... no curiosity, people not bothered.... this might indirectly encourage a situation where women will have dealings only with men of other religion... at least they are assured that if some thing goes wrong in the relation, there will be lot of (lip) sympathy, 'loud' protests and noise all around... this is basically counter-productive situation....

Why is the woman not arrested? She appears to be the mastermind of the ploy to publish 'mirch masala' about her former 'lover' in the newspapers. One can imagine what kind of love she had for the 'lover'! What was she hoping to achieve by complaining about one man to another man? Absolutely heartless woman.
