Mangalore: MP Resents Inaction of Officials in Utilization of Funds

Mangalore, Sep 9: Dakshina Kannada MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, expressed his displeasure at the fact that hurdles have been created in the claiming of the next instalment of his MP Local Area Development Fund Scheme because of the fact that the works suggested by them were not executed by the officials in time.

He was addressing the general public, after undertaking an inspection of national highway widening works at Bykampady and poor condition of the bridge there.

He said that he had provided the district deputy commissioner with a list of projects to be undertaken from out of the funds of one crore rupees received from the union government. Due to the inaction of the officials, the grants now face the risk of being reverted back to the centre, he said.

About the road condition in Bykampady, he said he plans to convene a meeting of the deputy commissioner, New Mangalore Port Trust, railways, and the police officials shortly, to find out a solution to the problem of conducting repairs to the railway bridge at Bykampady.

Nalin revealed that the union minister for road transport and highways had told him, that the delaying tactics employed by the officials entrusted with land acquisition proceedings had delayed the execution of highway widening work here. He also asked the policemen to take action against those who park their vehicle haphazardly on the edges of the highway.

Assistant commissioner of police, Girish, Panambur sub-inspector, Keertikumar, BJP leader, Sharatchandra Shetty, corporator, Yashwant Meenakaliya, and other leaders were present.
