Davanagere: Increase in fuel price – BJP MP Dr Siddeshwar suggests public to ride bicycles

Daijiworld Media Network – Davanagere (MS)

Davanagere, Jul 11: Dr G M Siddeshwar, MP of Davanagere Lok Sabha constituency on Saturday July 10, advised the public to make use of bicycles for transport in the wake of rising fuel prices.

Siddeshwar said “The price of fuel is shooting upwards day by day. So it is better if people start going around in bicycles. This is healthy as well as economical. No sickness will bother anyone.

“The price of fuel is decided based on the price of crude oil in the international market.

“Once Covid pandemic gets reduced, the price of fuel will also get lowered. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is making all efforts to reduce the price of fuel,” he said.

Arctic region is melting. There is a never heard of extreme heatwave lashing California and Nevada. Newyork is flooded by rains. Monsoon is irregular in India. Now snowing in Europe during year end!! Climate is changing. Earth's temperature is increasing. Modi has pledged his support to the world community in extending all that necessary to reduce global warming. As consumption of fossil fuel is the most important reason for global warming, Modi decided to block the river from the origin. Increase the fuel costs, let people decide for healthier modes of transport, use public transport or use electric vehicles. There is no other way to deter people from using fossil fuel. Modi has done the right thing. Right thing for future generation.

Wa Bakht Wa (@Shankar) If the PM is so smart as you said, he should invest heavily on alternate fuel or push for electric cars/ scooters...etc. Instead of making fuel costlier he should ensure heavy taxes of high end vehicles that consume lots of fuel. Current fuel increase has increased the inflation. By the way, what is the strategy behind increase in cooking oil prices, gas prices (if people resort to wood fire that causes more polution), prices of pulses..etc. Is it due to global warming?

Roads in Indian Metro cities are not built for bicycles. In fact they are neither suitable for vehicles nor for walking. If you see footpaths in Bangalore, they are full of ditches, interruptions, nuisense from vendors, coffeeshop customers and sometimes even bikes parked on footpath. Roads are occupied with avoidable junk, vendors, vehicles parked permanently. When should one ride the bicycle then? In Europe, there are separate cycling path between road and foot path or beyond footpath. Cycling is safe in such cases. In Indian roads cycling means, 99% risk of life. Let the politicians ride a cycle onece for a distance of 5 Kms and see these issues and then blabber on news channels.

Are you ready to give up your car with petrol allowance? 2. Are you ready to give up Air/Bus/Train fares? 3.Are you ready to give up subsidized meals available in parliament canteen? 4. Are you ready to give up phone allowance? 5. Are you ready to give up huge salary ? Please do it sir!!!!! be a role model!!!!!!!! After all Politics is a social service not a job!!!!!!!

In this rainy season you ride bicycle and help your family to go to hospital and market etc. For the sake of talking if you say something it is not worth. Do/ practice it yourself and be realistic. Why don’t we get rid of these uneducated MPs. Instead of being of voice of people in the parliament, now MPs have become a voice of Gov to the people. These people think, petrol price will effect only for those people who travel in bike/car. He is not aware of the fact that petrol price will increase price of every essential commodity. All of our MPs and MLAs have enough money to buy things, so they are bothered about the price of essentials. Our PM claim that he was a selling tea, if that was the case, he would have felt the hardship of people who are selling tea and running their family now. A leader should be one who understands the people, not the one who dictates the people.

Very good advice. However, in uneven surfaces or when one gets too tired let there be a switch to other energy modes. This will suit most people. Let more such vehicle which can switch between pedal & motor mode come to the market. Government should promote such vehicles. Let there also be a separate cycle lane.
