Udupi, Sep 9: It came to light on the evening of Wednesday September 8 that thieves had gained entry into a house and taken away gold ornaments worth three lac rupees and Rs 15,000 in cash, when the family members were away. The incident occurred in Uchchila Bhaskaranagar near Padubidri.
Shakila Banu and her family have been residing in a rented house in Uchchila since the last four months. On Tuesday afternoon, the family members had gone to Katpady to meet a relative there. When they came back on Wednesday evening, they found the front door of the house having been broken with an axe.
