Kundapur, Jul 10: “A plan will be made based on the mangrove forests of this region to develop the mangrove forests throughout the coastal belt. Mangrove forests will be convenient for the egg laying of different kinds of fishes, prevention of cyclones and expansion of green zones. The tourism department is mulling to encourage eco-tourism,” said minister for forest Aravind Limbavali.

Limbavali spoke with the media after paying a visit to the mangrove forest near Kundapur Church road. He further said, “I have instructed the officials to grow mangrove forests in the back water area where there are no mangrove forests right now from the income that will be generated through eco-tourism. MLAs of Byndoor and Kundapur have submitted appeals for growing mangrove forests. So the department is working in this direction.

“Opportunity will be given to tourism with restrictions in place. In certain zones, where there is no entry for tourists, the picture of the area can be shown to the tourists through ultra-modern cameras. Similarly, if a documentary is made on the exotic spots of coastal areas, it will surely attract the tourists. This will increase income and employment.

“The green zone in Karnataka which was 13% has reached 23% now. We have an aim of increasing it to 33%. We faced shortage of oxygen during coronavirus. If there is forest and mangrove, oxygen will be available in abundance. In the wake of this the forest departments are working to develop forest areas,” he said.

MLAs Halady Srinivas Shetty and B M Sukumar Shetty, Kundapur zonal forest officer Prabhakar Kulal, Byndoor zone forest officer Kiran Babu, Kundapur town municipality president Veena Bhaskar Mendon, vice president Sandeep Kharvi, president of urban development Vijaya S Poojary, Kundapur Mandala BJP president Shankara Ankadakatte, members of town municipality and leaders of BJP were present.

Manohar Udipi,he not only enjoyed his speach and he dont know what he speaks. Why show to tourists only pictures with modern cameras but dont allow to enter it.Tourists can see pictures at home also ,so no need of coming to see pictures.Rubbish talk. When no money to start it now but with tourists money can be done ?Tourists come first when something is there. Not to greet him.Mangrove forest doesnt develope all of a sudden from today to tomorrow.Need years. Now has to start on the spot.Sea eroson is there, land is already started to go away from Atlas. He has to hurry.

Mangroves not be confused with mangoes These are saline based species Breaking flood waters .. natural barriers for flooding .. erosion etc Creating eco systems .. many mangroves destroyed ..by reckless development .. but growing this .. mangroves .. new project ..proposed ...is not like land based afforestation So money not to be wasted ... Has to have a different approach and use experts / scientific control of sea water flow etc

This is foolish plan. In coastal areas how everywhere mangos can grow?also in sea water it is not possible to cultivate mango. Instead coastal areas must be utilise for coastal activity like fishing prawn cultivation etc. even if mango forest is developed in coast, too much forested area means the wild animals will eats it all. We must protects environment but not by methods like this

TTT;Toronto, kindly read first and then comment.Mangrove are not mangos .but a plants at see side grown to avoid more harm ,tides coming on seashores ,distroy everything ,later when plants grow up ,will be forest of its own. That gives underneath roots for fishes to safety.become a KG like ,.Same time give out oxygen to nature.

"We faced shortage of oxygen during coronavirus. If there is forest and mangrove, oxygen will be available in abundance"..... Now do you know why we call BJPians 'anpad gawar and padhe likhe jaahil'? Even if they pass out from the best universities they will still remain 'buddhu ke buddhu'. People who vote form them are likes. Yeh Limbavali se acha toh eerulli..bellulli hai.
