Bengaluru, Jul 9: Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala, who has been the governor of Karnataka for the last about seven years, continues to bring pressure on the government to dispose certain files, it is learnt. As Thawarchand Gehlot has been posted as the new governor, Vala should have confined himself to routine work and exited from the Raj Bhavan but he continues to wield his power at the last minute, directing the concerned to clear some files immediately, it is said.
The government however is maintaining a safe distance from meeting his instructions, it is learnt. Therefore, cabinet members highly placed officers etc have been cold-shouldering directions emanating from the Raj Bhavan, it is said. Still, Raj Bhavan repeatedly sends instructions to pressurize the concerned, it is gathered.
When a governor leaves after he is transferred or retires, the cabinet ministers normally pay him a courtesy visit. The government has owned the stand that the outgoing governor should not have more hopes from the government.
Sometime ago, there were reports that the governor had got only people from Gujarat posted in his office. Now, even after he has been replaced, he continues to bring pressure on the government. In the meanwhile, chief minister B S Yediyurappa, along with home minister Basavaraj Bommai, paid courtesy visit to the governor on Thursday.
Gehlot is scheduled to be administered oath on Sunday or Monday.
