Kaup, Jul 9: It is reported that two people try to murder Ganesh Shetty Heroor, former president of Majoor gram panchayat. One person was arrested regarding the case.
The arrested has been identified as Charan Shetty (28).
The assailants who arrived in bike with lethal weapons assaulted Shetty as he was closing his bakery and tried to murder him. Shetty tried to save himself and raised an alarm. Locals who rushed to the spot caught hold of the assailants and beat them black and blue.

Shetty was elected as member of Heroor gram panchayat for three terms and was president for one term.
The other assailant, Stephen Mendonca, is getting treated at the district hospital at Ajjarkad according to the information given by the police.

Udupi, Jul 9: Ganesh Shetty (51) a native of Heroor in Kaup taluk, operates a bakery store named Sai Baba in Bantakal. He is handicapped, and happens to be a former president of Majoor gram panchayat.
At 9 pm on Thursday July 8, Ganesh had closed his shop and was standing in front of his shop to go back home, when two people known to him, namely Stephen Mendonca and Charan Shetty, who came in a motorbike, intercepted him. Stephen used abusive words against him and wanted to know who would save him now.
Then both Shetty and Mendonca reportedly assaulted Ganesh Shetty, hitting him at will, at which Ganesh reportedly fell down on the ground. The assaulters then allegedly brought lethal weapons concealed in the motorbike and were about to attack him with these weapons, when he raised an alarm.
As the people immediately gathered, it is said, the accused went away after warning Ganesh Shetty that he would be murdered. On the basis of a complaint filed by Ganesh Shetty, a case under different sections of the Indian Penal Code was registered at Shirva police station.
