Chikkaballapur, Jul 8: Karnataka chief minister (CM) B S Yediyurappa, called upon the people not to lose sight of the prowling danger of Covid19. "Always wear masks, maintain social distance. Cooperate with the government. If you fail to follow the rules, after 15 days, we will be forced to impose lockdown as before," he warned.
He was speaking after dedicating to the society a makeshift hospital built at Doddaballapur in Bengaluru rural district on Wednesday July 7. "I appeal to you not to roam around freely just because the lockdown has been eased. Be careful in your dealings, wear masks, and maintain social distance. If you fail to comply, we may have to re-impose lockdown and go back to the conditions prevailing in the past," he said.
The CM said that this makeshift hospital with 70 beds meant to face the corona third wave is the first of its kind in the county, and has been inaugurated here. He pointed out that makeshift hospitals are being built only in six states of India, and the first such hospital has been inaugurated in Karnataka. He thanked private concerns which helped the government in building this hospital.
Yediyurappa stated that this hospital will continue to be available for serving the people even after the Covid goes away. He exuded confidence of being able to successfully handle Covid third wave through various programmes undertaken by the government towards that end.
The CM apparently is worried about the people moving around without masks and without observing social distance after the lockdown conditions were relaxed. Because of this, corona positivity rate had gone up a little on the next day of the current unlock process.
