Mangaluru, Jul 8: A 16-year-old girl who was diagnosed with the Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome (MIS-C)) was successfully treated at the district Wenlock Hospital here. She was discharged from the hospital on July 6.
This is said to be the first ever MIS-C case registered in Dakshina Kannada district. The girl was admitted into Wenlock Hospital with breathing problems on June 16. After she was treated for Covid19, other problems like pneumonia, lung infection, brain-related complications, haemoglobin issues etc were encountered. The doctors at the intensive care unit, by keeping the girl continuously under close observation, succeeded in curing her completely after a treatment regimen lasting 24 days.
The intensive care unit team and hospital doctors provided treatment to her in the intensive care unit for 13 days. Out of this, she was put on ventilator for eight days. Lung specialist of the hospital, Dr Sharat Babu, said that the girl was considered as a MIS-C case as several other health problems were encountered when treating Covid 19.
MIS-C symptoms are normally observed among the children four weeks after Covid19 infection is confirmed. Therefore, the doctor said, they began to treat the girl on this model. He said that the girl showed good progress in recovery and therefore she completely recovered after 24 days. She has since been sent home.
