Bengaluru, Jul 6: Karnataka Pradesh Congress president, D K Shivakumar, has succeeded in emphatically asserting his supremacy in the state Congress. Shivakumar's demand to make Mohammed Nalapad, son of high profile MLA N A Haris, as the youth Congress president after January next year has been upheld. Nalapad will take over the mantle on January 31.
National youth Congress president, B V Srinivas, issued an official release about this decision. Raksha Ramaiah will be in charge of the youth Congress till January 31, 2022. Nalapad will take over from Raksha Ramaiah thereafter, he stated.

After Shivakumar strongly demanded Nalapad to be made the state youth Congress president, at a conciliatory meeting held a week back, it was agreed that Nalapad will take over charge in January. However, on the next day, the website of the youth Congress had dismissed the information as mere rumour. Siddaramaiah camp apparently had brought pressure on the high command to continue Raksha Ramaiah in the position. However, Shivakumar continued with his tactics and succeeded in convincing the top brass to make Nalapad the state youth Congress president.
It may be recalled that Nalapad had mustered the highest votes in the election for the state youth Congress president. However, he was denied the post as a serious criminal case is pending against him in the court.
