Udupi, July 5: "Karnataka is known to be industrially advanced in comparison to other states of the country. Investors are keen on setting up new industries in the state. 250 acres of land near Muloor in Kaup taluk and 800 acres of land at Balkunje near Mulki will be acquired for the purpose,” said the minister for large and medium scale industries, Jagadish Shettar. He was speaking to reporters after visiting the newly constructed oxygen production unit at Belapu industrial area here on Monday, July 5.
“We have brought changes to the Industrial Policy. There will be a single-window system. All the departments will be brought under one policy. Allotment letter and commencement certificates will be issued early,” he said.
“We intend to aim at industrial progress in other districts besides Bengaluru. The establishment of large scale industries has been sanctioned in other districts for the last two years. Investors have also come forward to establish industries at Mangaluru, Yadgir, Koppala, Belagavi, Hubballi, Dharwad among other places.”
“In the agreement, it has been mentioned that the local people should be employed. Legal action will be taken if the locals are refused employment,” the minister said.
“Oxygen for Udupi was being supplied earlier from Mangaluru. Now, it is being supplied from the oxygen production unit at Udupi, which eliminated the scarcity of oxygen,” he said.
Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, Udupi MLA K Raghupathi Bhat, BJP district president, Kuilady Suresh Nayak, state executive member, Gurme Suresh Shetty, S N Cryogenics Pvt Ltd MD, K Nataraj Hegde and others were present.
