Puttur, Jul 4: A youth from Nettanige Mudnoor of the taluk here has filed a complaint with the police against seven people accusing them of fleecing lacs of rupees from him through honey-trapping.
Police have arrested a woman in this connection.
The 25-year-old complainant, a resident Cheechagadde of Nettanige Mudnur village has filed a complaint with police that he lost Rs 30 lac due to honey-trap. The complainant is a salesman by profession.

The incident took place on April 12 but the victim filed a complaint only now in Puttur rural police station as per the instructions of higher police officials.
In his complaint, the youth has accused Hanif alias KMY Hanif, a resident of Cheechagadde, Kotyadi residents Mohammed Kunhi and Shafi, Savanoor residents Azhar and Syed Monu, Naseer and Tanisha.
As per the complaint, five months ago, the complainant received a text message from an unknown number. After 12 days he received the same message, and this time he replied. After a few hours when he called the number, a woman answered and introduced herself in Hindi as Tanisha from Mangaluru.
Thereafter, the woman started calling and texting the complainant frequently, including video calls on WhatsApp. On April 15, the woman told to him to call her, and the complainant did so. However, she then blocked his number on WhatsApp thereafter and the complainant could not contact her despite trying.
On April 20, the complainant was asked to come to an isolated area, where accused Syed Monu, Mohammed Kunhi, Shafi, Naseer and Azhar allegedly accused him of duping Tanisha by pretending to be in love, and demanded Rs 30 lac to settle the matter. They also threatened to leak a video of him on social media. The complainant alleged that they also threatened to kill him and snatched his mobile phone, from which they deleted a video of his conversation with Tanisha.
After three days of the incident, the complainant gave Rs 25 lac to the accused, and followed it up with another Rs 5 lac.
Dr Gana P Kumar, DySP of subdivision, who took up the investigation in the matter, arrested Tanisha. Other six are absconding. Search is on for them.
