Bengaluru, Jul 4: A birthday celebration at an apartment here turned tragic, when a person, who was filling balloons with gas, died on the spot after the gas cylinder exploded.
Dinesh (19), a resident of Parappana Agrahara, who was engaged in business of providing balloons for birthday parties lost his life in the incident.
Dinesh had taken the contract of filling gas in balloons for a birthday party and had arrived at the apartment building along with his assistant Mahadesh.
Both the deceased Dinesh and his assistant Mahadesh were filling the balloons in the premises of the building near his parked bike. Mahadesh went inside the apartment to bring water. In the meantime, the cylinder exploded killing Dinesh on the spot.
A resident of the building had ordered balloons with designs for the birthday party at his home through a website and had given an order for 200 balloons. Accordingly, 100 balloons were sent. The mishap occurred while getting the rest 100 balloons ready for the function.
Dinesh used to do the work of filling gas into balloons for the past four years. He used to get orders online. He had manufactured a cylinder using artificial chemicals, sources said.
