Panaji, Jul 3: Infuriated over the overnight demolition of kiosks outside Goa Medical college, AAP said that the state BJP government is against the commoners and asked the affected vendors to be rehabilitated immediately.

AAP said that the kiosks that were demolished were helpful for scores of patients and their relatives as they used to supply food, fruits etc at an affordable price. Inside the hospital complex, these are either not available or priced too high.

On hearing the news of the demolition of kiosks outside GMC on Thursday, functionaries of AAP Ritesh Shenai, Dr Vibhas Prabhudesai, Vighnesh Apte, Cecille Rodrigues and Valmiki Naik went to the spot.

A furious Naik questioned the administration and said, “Local MLA had assured just a couple of days ago that the stalls of vendors will not be demolished until an alternative plan is made to rehabilitate them. Now, who has razed them down in the dead of the night?”

Cecille Rodrigues took CM Pramod Sawant to task and said that the livelihood of vendors, who are already badly affected due to the pandemic, is taken away by the anti-commoner regime of BJP.

AAP leader Apte accused that the vendors were demolished in order to give more business to vendors favoured by health minister Vishwajit Rane inside the hospital complex. He said that Vishwajit Rane’s people have overtaken all supplied at GMC ranging from Pharmacy, canteen, oxygen and other vital supplies.

Apte said that this act of demolishing the kiosks outside GMC has not only affected the livelihood of the vendors but also badly robbed the patients and relatives for whom they were a source of cheap food and snacks.
