Mangaluru, Jun 30: In respect of a case in which two girls, including a minor girl student, were found in a lodge and also two young men in the same lodge, three persons who have been arrested were remanded to judicial custody by the court.
Sheikh Zain Mohammad from Kudroli in the city, Muhammed Raheem from Bolar, and a lady from Suratkal are the three who were sent to judicial custody. Cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act have been registered against the young men as the girl reputedly underwent sexual atrocity in their hands. Cases also have been registered about violating the lockdown rules and roaming around and hiring rooms in the lodge, apart from a case under the Prevention of Epidemic Diseases Act. The ladies and the young men had hired different rooms in the same lodge at different times. This had come to the notice of some organizations. Therefore, the police had visited the lodge, rescued the minor student, and taken into custody the other three.
Reportedly, one of the arrested accused is addicted to drugs.
