Mangalore, Sep 5: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) chairman R S Sharma said that Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) has achieved the highest ever distillate yield of 72.8 percent at 12.5 MMTPA operating level.
He added that the annual report for the financial year ended on March 31, 2010 along with audited annual accounts has been circulated.
Speaking to the media at MRPL on Saturday September 4, Sharma said that domestic direct marketing sales had reached 800 TMT from 775 TMT in the previous year.
“The company has earned a net profit after tax of Rs 1,112 crore, which is marginally lower than the Rs 1,193 crore in the previous year, as no mat credit was available during the year. MRPL has installed 122 outlets of 500 outlets, but none of the retail outlets are doing well”, he said.
Answering a query about employees’ problems of MRPL, Sharma said that they are like our children and if we try to fulfill all the demands of the children they will become wayward.
He added that MD and CEO of MSEZ ISN Prasad and all other directors of ONGC and MRPL had a discussion on the employees’ issue in Bangalore and are planning to fulfill demands carefully.
Speaking on the safety issue, he said that some issues like ageing industry are being solved and MRPL and ONGC are the youngest industry. Sharma added that MRPL had been adjudged as the safest refinery for three years from 2006 to 2009 by the oil industry safety directorate (OISD), but still they will take extra precautions.
