Kundapur, Jun 28: More than 30 cattle which were found to have been huddled together in a small house at Kudru within the limits of Gulvady gram panchayat were rescued by Kandlur police in an operation conducted late in the evening on Sunday June 27. The raid was conducted after Hindu organizations tipped the police about it.
The police took away 25 of the cattle with them during the raid. Five of the cows belonged to locals. Therefore they took away their cows on their own. It is learnt that the owners of the house where the cattle were put together in a violent manner had released some of the cattle after they got information about the police raid. Hundreds of Hindu activists and locals had come together at the spot. Kundapur rural (Kandlur) station sub-inspector, Sudha Prabhu, led the operation.
Hindu organizations said that the house where the cattle were found gives an indication that cattle were slaughtered there regularly and beef was sold. The leaders of the organizations also alleged that the police overlooked the developments even though they had information about them.
