Dharwad, Jun 26: "Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's family was under the impression that it was meant to rule the nation. That family had destabilised India. Narendra Modi government erased that impression and installed democracy in its real sense in India. It has since cemented the entire system of democracy," said union minister, Pralhad Joshi.
He was speaking after participating in the black day observation in memory of the state of Emergency declared in 1975 by the BJP Dharwad division through Webex. Joshi recollected the words of Dr B R Ambedkar that irrespective of how good a constitution is, if those who implement it are not good, then it does not do any good to either the society or the nation. He said that irrespective of how bad a constitution is, if the administrators use good things in it, the nation does not suffer any losses. Therefore, he said that the rulers should always be dedicated persons.
Joshi recalled that Indira Gandhi declared emergency after judge of the Allahabad high court, Jagmohan Sinha, upheld the arguments made by Raj Narayan who had questioned the election of Indira Gandhi and nullified her election, in order to save her seat. He said that Congressmen even now nurture the belief that questioning the powers of Nehru Gandhi family threatens the existence of the nation. Joshi blamed the Congress leaders for not having any sense, shame or guilt for a dark patch in the history that was the handiwork of their leaders.
