Mangaluru, Jun 26: The district administration had clarified that weekend curfew would be in force from 7 pm on Friday to 7 am on Monday. Even shops dealing in essentials have been ordered to be closed. The people in general have been adhering to these conditions. KSRTC buses are also off the roads.
Still, a few two and three-wheelers and cars are found moving about in the city. The police have set up check posts at various places and checking is in progress on Saturday June 26. They have been making discreet enquiries about the genuineness and importance of the motive of the travellers. They are also seen checking documents to verify the genuineness.
It may be recalled, deputy commissioner of police (Law and Order) Hariram Shankar on Friday June 25 had directed the police personnel to strictly implement the weekend curfew and also said that only medical stores, milk shops and government offices will be open.
