Bengaluru, Jun 25: Police arrested two persons in connection with the murder of former BBMP corporator Rekha Kadiresh, who was hacked to death in broad daylight in the city on Thursday, June 24.
The police had to fire at the accused in order to arrest them. The arrested are identified as Peter and Surya. Upparpet inspector, Shivaswamy and Cottonpete inspector, Chidananda fired at the legs of Surya and Peter. The incident occurred behind the Pooja Kalyana Mantapa in Kamakshipalya. While accused Peter suffered bullet injury on his right leg, Surya got inflicted with a gunshot on his left leg. Both the accused have been arrested by the cops.

Speaking after the arrest, city police commissioner, Kamal Pant, speaking to the media said, “Some suspected criminals were shortlisted with regards to the murder. Now two main suspects are arrested. The names of Peter and Surya were at the top of the list. Our cops have put in all their efforts to arrest them."
“The investigation was being held under the leadership of additional police commissioner, Murugan. The police got the information that the accused were hiding in Kamakshipalya. When the cops went to arrest them, they tried to assault the police. They were hiding in 800 acres of deserted land after committing the heinous crime. They tried to attack the police by using knives. So the police had to fire at their legs."
