Puttur, Jun 25: The district administration, which has been aggressive in the matter of regulating spread of Covid19 pandemic, has decided to set up the district's second testing lab for the disease at Puttur.
At present, swab samples collected from all over the district are tested at the swab test lab in the district government hospital Mangaluru. A temporary testing lab which was installed at KVG College Sullia about a month back has been functioning. The machineries currently installed at Sullia will be shifted to Puttur where a full scale lab of the government will be installed.

This was confirmed by deputy commissioner, Dr Rajendra K V. Search for a suitable location in Puttur for the laboratory was conducted. It has been finally decided to locate the lab in the first floor of the Samarthya Soudha located next to the taluk panchayat building.
The deputy commissioner confirmed that in about a month a fully equipped government lab will start working in Puttur. At the suggestion of minister, Kota Srinivas Poojary, a temporary lab by using the infrastructure of KVG Medical College Sullia had been started where samples from Puttur, Kadaba and Sullia taluks were tested. After these arrangements, the test reports were obtained within an average time of 48 hours.
