Mangaluru/Udupi, June 24: Dakshina Kannada on Thursday, June 24 reported 498 new coronavirus cases and fifteen deaths, while Udupi reported 123 fresh cases and seven deaths.
As per the district health bulletin, a total of 9,95,308 samples have been tested so far, out of which 9,04,649 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 90,659 out of which 6,591 are currently active. The positivity rate of district is 5.59%.
As many as 702 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday.
The district recorded fifteen deaths due to coronavirus on Thursday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1108.
With cases steadily increasing, the district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 90,15.817 as fine in 73,941 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 6,68,238 samples have been tested so far.
As many as 123 new cases were reported on Thursday, taking the total number of cases to 65,809 out of which 1,330 are currently active.
A total of 209 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday.
Coronavirus has claimed 385 lives in the district so far, including seven on Thursday.
Till now, 3,86,213 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 1,01,965 have received the second dose.
