Shivamogga, Jun 24: Minister and BJP stalwart, K S Eshwarappa, said that rising prices of essential commodities will not have any bearing on the government.
He was responding to the question raised by media persons about the steep increase in the prices of essentials. He pointed out that rice was sold at two rupees per kg when India became independent. He asked the people to compare the current price of rice, pulses and all other items to the prices prevailing then. He justified the increase of prices of commodities over a period of time, terming it as a natural process.
The minister went on to say that a hike in the prices of commodities will not affect the government. "We have been working excellently in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic. The government has been providing free vaccines to everyone and free ration to poor families. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, who has been providing both these things without passing on any financial burden to the people, is a brilliant leader. Because of his capabilities and initiatives, the people of the country have become his staunch supporters," Eshwarappla explained.
At the same time, Eshwarappa requested the opposition parties not to link election and Covid-19. He said if they raise this topic, his party will explain to the people about the real facts.
