Kundapur, Jun 24: A girl from the taluk, who picked an injured puppy from the roadside, took good care of the animal and helped it to move around by building a wheel cart for it, has come in for appreciation and admiration from animal lovers.
The girl student who saved the puppy from imminent disaster happens to be Priya, a student of Moodlakatte engineering college. She is from Hosangady in the taluk.
Priya, who is soft-hearted, saw that the puppy in question, which somehow recovered from the accident, could not walk. She prepared a wheel cart by creating her own technology, tied it to the cart with the help of a belt, and enabled it to move around.
When she was moving on Hosangady road, she found that a puppy that was three to four months old, was lying by the side of the road, having become the victim of an accident. She saw that the dog's hind legs were seriously injured and it had lost strength in them. Priya gave it some food and went home. On the next morning, she saw that the puppy had crawled all along and reached the gate of her house. She provided first aid, and took care of the dog. The dog responded well to the care but could not move around. The student who created this equipment, has helped the puppy to go wherever it wants.
Priya, who planned to ensure that the dog is able to move on its own, used two PVC pipes with bend pipes below the stomach and back. She also added two more pipes near its waist with belt. Near the waist, to the pipe that faces the ground, she rigged two holes, and fitted wheels with the help of bolt nut. She tightened the belt near the neck and chest and saw to it that the hind leg of the dog was supported by the backward pipe. The dog, after some days practice, is freely moving around now.
