Mangaluru, Jun 22: Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) sought suggestions and objections from the applicants for the single-window system model published which is published on the MCC website http:/www.mangalurucity.mrc.gov.in, to obtain building licence and occupancy certificate from the Mangaluru City Corporation.

In a media release, MCC officials stated that to obtain a building licence and occupancy certificate under Mangaluru City Corporation, the applicants are required to furnish NOC and respective clearances from various departments.

On October 10, 2020, the district in-charge secretary of Dakshina Kannada chaired a meeting attended by CREDAI, Association of Engineers and Developers from Mangaluru. During the meeting the stakeholders highlighted concern regarding delay and amount of time consumed to procure NOC/clearance from different departments, as a major hindrance for on-time completion of construction, the press release stated.

It was suggested that a single-window model be put into a place wherein instead of the applicants requesting for NOC/clearance from various departments, the builders could apply for NOC/clearance certificates at MCC, who intern would forward the application to the concerned departments.

If the concerned departments do not respond within 30 days, it would be considered as deemed NOC/clearance. In this backdrop, a single-window system model has been published on the MCC website http:/www.mangalurucity.mrc.gov.in.

Suggestions and objections regarding the same are to be submitted within 30 days of the issuance of this notice.

In case of no objections, the present single-window model shall be finalised and approved, the press release said.

IF something is put into place for ease of doing business ,why would anybody object ? This will reduce corruption as the builder does not have to visit the corruption dens of MCC The key thing is the online system working fine as per requirement. This might be just another orchestrated political game to finally say that "there was objection raised for the online system" hence we will continue as usual ..please visit MCC office and request ..500 rupai kiset.

Online system is good. But it should be user friendly and hastle free. Usually the main benefit of online system is transparency.
