Mangaluru, Jun 22: In a kind gesture, police commissioner N Shashi Kumar and DCP Hariram Shankar helped an elderly couple reach their home, here on Tuesday June 22.

Two senior citizens from Kulshekar had come to a bank and were stuck near Clock Tower waiting for auto-rickshaw over an hour. They were finding it difficult to walk and were looking for an auto to reach their home.

Noticing the couple, the police commissioner arranged a police vehicle to drop them to their residence.

Vehicle checking was in full swing at Clock Tower in the presence of the police commissioner. Police personnel imposed fine on vehicle owners over unnecessary movement and also for mask rule violations.

Heavy traffic congestion was witnessed at Clock Tower. Police also took action against four-wheelers with unauthorised tinted glass.

Indeed a very kind gesture on the part of The Commissioner of Police and the D.C.P. to help and elderly couple to get back to their home. It is unfortunate that the elderly couple got stranded at a place and they were unable to get help in any way. Kudos to The Commissioner of Police and The D.C.P.

No time: No time for weekly 1 hr CP - citizen phone- in- session. No time for PI or ACP or DCP to make a spot visit since 2 years ,despite 27 official complaints. No time for CP office to reply to RTI. No time for CP office to hold RTI 1st appeal hearing. No time for non-VIP’s. No time to attend to complaints made on KSP app. The CP is in the house and he is busy! The genesis of the problem faced by the elderly couple is the stoppage of public transport and the irrational restrictions (5%,50%,30%........) imposed by the administration(in which the CP plays an important decision making role). Had the root of the problem been addressed, the elderly couple would not have had to stand for 1 hr waiting for an auto, in the first place. Many such elderly and helpless citizens will continue facing such problems and the kind, helpful CP will not be able to be everywhere. The kind , helpful CP will find several more such opportunities to help citizens by ensuring that all his staff perform their duties as per their job description, by turning more of his attention to regulating the running of his office (some lacunae about which I have written above). Once rule of law is implemented, once organisations run efficiently as per their duties then all things fall into place.

Pure publicity stunt. Happened right in front of me. They even forced us to move our car. U can even see the car in the video. One cop even hit the bonnet of our car yelling at us to move. There is no authenticity left in india. Public servants have become publicity hungry filmstars.

I agree with your point IN, Mangalore... Because I too witnessed.. I was so worried for the seniors thinking it was something very serious when cops and the media came all of a sudden...I agree on they helping them but others were made to rush just to give them way...

Photop. Happened right in front of my eyes. They forced us to move our vehicle to the corner. One cop even banged on our vehicles bonnet with his latti just for clearing the road to take this pic.

can not decline, must be for publicity, at the same time if take it positive, it has moral to help others, if we find some one elderly waiting for vehicle, stop your car give lift, and if you are in bus some one standing elderly, offer yr seat. polices are also human beings, as son of his elderly parents or your own brother ,don't be selfish.

We can help if we know that they were waiting. And to take it positively we need to be treated in a positive way too. Just coz they r cops doesnt mean they can just bang the cars hood for a photoshoot. I was a lady waiting on the passenger side. So you see the understanding can go both ways. I'm not being disrespectful of cops here. They do real work too. They can even do publicity all they want. But they should learn to treat other people right aswell.

This is only publicity and so many vehicles in the Falnir area not only restaurants open and delivery but also eating in cars, which is not allowed after 1 pm. No patrolling by police.

Your spot on. This was a pure publicity stunt. Coz it happened right in front of me. They even forced us to move our car so that they could have this photo shoot. One cop even yelled at me asking me to move our car. He even hit the bonnet with his lathi. And these fake men r public servants.
