Udupi, Jun 22: District in-charge minister, Basavaraj Bommai, participated in a programme of video interaction with the district administration on Monday June 21 about the current covid19 situation in the district. He said that the lockdown relaxation permitted in the district is conditional, and g advised the authorities to bring down the positivity rate to less than five percent by initiating suitable measures.
The minister asserted that the government agreed for the unlock process in the district on the above condition and instructed the district administration and health department to take steps as may be necessary to achieve this objective. He also asked the superintendent of police to see that the people follow Covid regulations and guidelines strictly. He also advised the concerned to increase the number of tests and provide suitable treatment to the infected people immediately.
Deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha, said that 30,000 doses of the Covid vaccine was administered under the mega festival on Monday. He said that the district receives 5,000 doses of the vaccine every week on an average, and urged for increasing this quantity. The minister agreed, to consider this request and asked the officials to see that oxygen plants proposed in the district are completed soon and they are made functional at the earliest.
The minister asked the panchayat development officers and engineers to personally visit the places damaged by the rains and to submit report accompanied by photographs within the time limit.
MLA Lalaji R Mendon and Sunil Kumar, chairman of Coastal Development Authority Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, zilla panchayat chief executive officer Dr Naveen Bhat, district superintendent of police Vishnuvardhan, additional deputy commissioner Sadashiva Prabhu, district surgeon Dr Madhusudan Nayak and district health officer Nagabhushan Udupa, were present.
