Mangaluru, Jun 21: MP and BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel informed that as per tradition, the last rites of 12 people who died of Covid and abandoned by their family members, were held at the Somanatheshwara temple near here. He also stated that the ashes of the deceased were immersed in the sea.
Speaking after holding Tila Homa and immersing the ashes of the deceased at Sri Somanatheshwara temple beach Nalin said, “Revenue minister of the state R Ashok had conducted final rituals of destitute and other people who died of Covid and whose mortal remains were not claimed by their relatives. Accordingly, in the district of Dakshina Kannada 12 such people have died and their ashes have been immersed in the sea after offering prayers at the temple.”
Taluk panchayat member, Ravishankar Someshwara sat for the Tila Homa. Santhosh Rai Boliyar, president of The Mysuru Electricals Industries Ltd, Kasturi Panja, former vice president of zilla panchayat, Sadashiva Ullal, vice president district Congress, Madan Mohan AC, Guruprasad, tahsildar, Dhanalaxmi Gatty, former zilla panchayat member, Sathish Kumpala, Chandrashekhar Ucchila, Chandrahas Ullal, Eshwar Kateel, all BJP leaders, Chandrahas Pandit House, zonal BJP president, Stephen, revenue inspector, Vani Alva, chief officer Someshwar town municipality, Lavanya, village accountant, Hemanth Shetty, Yashawanth Amin and Sachin More were present.
