Udupi, Jun 21: “I do not have any information with regards to the expansion of union cabinet," said Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje on the subject of expansion of union cabinet on Monday, June 21.
She further said, "Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi has to give the information himself in this regard. I do not have any ambition of becoming a minister. There are many senior leaders in South India. In Karnataka also there are senior leaders than me,” said.
Responding to the matter of Yadamoge Udaya Ganiga murder case, she said, “Guilty should be punished severely. When it comes to crime there is no affiliation to any political party or state. Justice is not politics. I have called the home minister and SP on the day of the incident itself.”
On the matter of demand for Tulu language to be added in the eighth schedule as well as forming separate Tulu Rajya, she said, “Tulu should get recognition in our constitution. I have spoken in this regard in the parliament also. Dharmadhikari Dr Veerendra Heggade has also spoken to PM Modi in this respect. I have met union home minister Amit Shah and submitted an appeal. All efforts will be done to include the Tulu language in the eighth schedule.
“There is no question of forming any separate Tulu state. We all belong to Karnataka. We do not support any demand that is done with an ulterior motive. All of us have to be united as Karnataka is formed after the unification. There is a possibility that Maharashtra will misuse this kind of talks of a separate state. Tulu language should get recognition in Karnataka. We will fight for the Tulu language,” she said.
