Udupi, Jun 21: After considering the weekly moving average positivity rate as on June 20, lockdown restrictions have been relaxed in Udupi district from Monday June 21.
After the Unlock 2.0 regulations and districts were announced by chief minister (CM) B S Yediyurappa, many had urged for the inclusion of Udupi in the list. Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat and Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje had also urged the CM to relax lockdown restrictions in Udupi earlier.

Hence, taking into account the consistent declining trend of cases in Udupi and five other districts namely Bengaluru rural, Shivamogga, Ballari, Chitradurga and Vijayapura, all additional activities are permitted until 5 am of July 5, said an order from the state government.
All the shops and business activities will be allowed to operate from 6 am to 5 pm with this order. This includes table serving in restaurants and hotels with 50% occupancy, buses can be operated with 50% occupancy and many other relaxations which are given to category 1 districts.
MP Shobha, earlier in the day speaking to media had said, “Udupi district should be unlocked. I have spoken to the state chief secretary in this connection. I have also spoken to the deputy commissioner and gathered details. I will explain the conditions of Udupi district to the chief minister.
“The chief secretary will obtain the health report of Udupi. Trade and business has remained stagnant in the coastal districts. I will request to relax the lockdown restrictions completely,” she said.
