Udupi, Jun 21: MP Shobha Karandlaje, revealed that the central government has sanctioned a grant of Rs 4.36 crore for the construction of four foot over-bridges on national highway 66 in Udupi district.
A delegation that had met union minister, Nitin Gadkari sometime back, had impressed upon him the need to create crossings at several places in the district through which national highway passes. The minister for surface transport and highways, who upheld the pleas of the people of the constituency, approved foot over-bridges at four places in the district across national highway 66 and sanctioned grant of Rs 4.36 crore in total. Steel footbridges will be constructed at following places.
The four over-bridges will come at Bada Yermal within Kaup assembly constituency for Rs 1.08 crore, Anegudde in Kundapur assembly constituency at Rs 1.08 crore, near Mahesh hospital in Udupi constituency worth Rs 1.08 crore and Ambagilu in Udupi constituency for Rs 1.08 crore.
The four foot over-bridges will help people to cross the highway wherever the density of vehicles and people is high, easily. The tender process has been completed and works will begin soon, the MP stated. In a release, Shobha Karandlaje has thanked the central government for understanding the genuine needs of the people, releasing the great and for approving the works.
