Udupi: ‘Rs 4.36 crore sanctioned for four foot over-bridges on NH’ – MP Shobha Karandlaje

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jun 21: MP Shobha Karandlaje, revealed that the central government has sanctioned a grant of Rs 4.36 crore for the construction of four foot over-bridges on national highway 66 in Udupi district.

A delegation that had met union minister, Nitin Gadkari sometime back, had impressed upon him the need to create crossings at several places in the district through which national highway passes. The minister for surface transport and highways, who upheld the pleas of the people of the constituency, approved foot over-bridges at four places in the district across national highway 66 and sanctioned grant of Rs 4.36 crore in total. Steel footbridges will be constructed at following places.

The four over-bridges will come at Bada Yermal within Kaup assembly constituency for Rs 1.08 crore, Anegudde in Kundapur assembly constituency at Rs 1.08 crore, near Mahesh hospital in Udupi constituency worth Rs 1.08 crore and Ambagilu in Udupi constituency for Rs 1.08 crore.

The four foot over-bridges will help people to cross the highway wherever the density of vehicles and people is high, easily. The tender process has been completed and works will begin soon, the MP stated. In a release, Shobha Karandlaje has thanked the central government for understanding the genuine needs of the people, releasing the great and for approving the works.

She is right! Whether or not she is in ministerial berth, she gets her cut from the booty because of her high level connections. Has anyone shown the guts or sincerity to investigate the source of her income that gave her finance to buy an estate in Coorg? Has anyone investigated her financial transactions through the past years?

An underpass along with pavements on both sides and well lit and with drainage, well maintained on a daily basis, works well for the older generation and as well for the younger., and for cows, dogs, and cats! In my opinion, a public crossing of some sort is required at Santhekatte Kallianpura, where this Highway Authority of India has messed up in design Footover bridge is a waste of money, as no one really climbs. Take for example The footover bridge at Alankar Cinema in Udupi city. Surely MP Shoba has never attempted to use it even for a trial. These Politicians in India don’t have any idea of what the general public are in need of, as they simply do not walk or cross NH66 at any time,

Use an elevator on both sides which will help the elderly/pregnant and physically challenged or create a underpass. Ensure they are well lit and have cameras. Else you will find lot of crimes happening over there along with beggars occupying most of the over bridges/underpass.

Udupi Puttur near LVT temple /LVP School provide a U turn in both ways. Fuel is so expensive the auto drivers and other vehicles should go till Santhekatte in one side and Ambagilu on other side for U turn. To save the fuel then they drive on the wrong side of the road its very dangerous.

Usually nobody uses such foot bridges. Our Indian mindset prefers crossing by road no matter wat the risk is. Even the polticians know about it. But then, how can we say no to kickbacks.
