Karnataka single-day cases drop to below 5k, positivity rate at 2.58%

Bengaluru, Jun 20: Karnataka on Sunday June 20 continued to maintain a steady rate of decline in the number of new coronavirus cases, with the state recording 4,517 new infections.

As per the bulletin released by the state health department, the active cases in the state stand at 1,26,813. Bengaluru Urban's single-day tally has come down to 933 new cases, still the highest among all districts.

As many as 120 deaths due to coronavirus were reported in the state on Sunday, with Mysuru recording 17 deaths and Bengaluru Urban and Ballari 12 each. With this, the toll so far has risen to 33,883.

The state recorded 8,456 discharges from hospitals, taking the total discharges so far to 26,45,735.

So far, Karnataka has seen 28,06,453 positive cases since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

The positivity rate for the day has dropped to 2.58%, while the case fatality rate for the day is 2.65%.

As many as 1,84,52,895 people have received vaccination so far.
