Mangaluru, Jun 20: The district administration on Sunday June 20 announced that beginning Monday June 21, shops selling essential items will remain open from 7 am to 1 pm.
Till now, under the current lockdown restrictions, shops were allowed to function only till 9 am, with one hour of grace time to allow people to return to their homes.
From Monday onwards, shops selling essential items such as groceries, meat and dairy will remain open till 1 pm. This will also apply to roadside vendors.
An order issued by the deputy commission Dr K V Rajendra on Sunday stated that ration shops and standalone wine shops and shops that allow take-aways will be allowed to remain open till 1 pm. Optical shops are also allowed.
The DC however added that people should stay home as much as possible and switch to home delivery services.
Manufacturing units, industrial establishments and factories can function with 50 percent staff capacity while textile manufacturing is allowed with 30 percent staff.
Cement, steel and construction industry will be allowed to function provided Covid protocols are strictly followed.
While bus services are still prohibited, taxis and auto rickshaws can ply with maximum two passengers.
Agricultural and related departments, PWD, housing, regional transport, cooperative and NABARD and revenue departments will continue to function with 50 percent staff.
Parks and gardens will remain closed for public. Weekend curfew from Friday 7 pm to Monday 7 am, and night curfew from 7 pm to 7 am will continue as usual.
The guidelines will remain in place till July 5, the DC stated, urging citizens to follow Covid protocols strictly and not to venture out of their homes unnecessarily.
