Mangaluru, Jun 20: The district administration along with officials from Mangaluru City Corporation on Sunday June 20 raided Shree Mangaladevi Temple premises for holding marriage ceremonies in violation of Covid lockdown restrictions.

Sources said that four marriages were being held at the wedding hall in the temple premises without permission from the district administration.

On receiving information about the same, the officials raided the spot and stopped the proceedings.

Speaking to daijiworld, deputy commissioner Dr K V Rajendra said that as the order of the state government, marriages are allowed only within homes in the presence of limited number of guests. Marriages are not permitted in public places like temples and halls, he said.

He also said that FIR will be registered against the persons concerned under karnataka Epidemic Diseases Act 2020 for violating Covid guidelines.

Assistant commissioners of revenue and religious endowment departments were part of the raid operation.

I am sure that the bride/bridegroom must be from the family of a ruling party functionary. So all this drama is just initial show off and little bit of noise, at the end no action will be taken. Trust me, the defaulters will not even be fined, on the contrary they might take disciplinary action against those who raided the party.

Since marraige ceremony was to be hold in temple premises, the person who is responsible for the cermony should ahve first of all asked the Parties whether they have any permission or not.So in the beginning self could have avoided this all this.Same the marraige parties too.everyone knows in between permission is required.Simply unnecessary chaos .

I feel responsible people elected right PM Mr. Modi , he did right thing by conducting Kumbh as its Hindus pride and we cannot let go our pride , let third or fourth or fifth we dont care , we will sacrifice our job, life and everything but hindutva is final. This was the mindset with which we voted and now what this act is anti hindutva , a wedding of Hindu is stopped why our Bajarangi friends not speaking as our hindu brother wedding stopped

Nithin Bhandary, Marnemikkatta /Mangalore Anna Nithin, Feeling extremely sorry for you and your ignorance. History has proved since last one and half year that Covid 19 infection did not spare anyone whether they were at the market, roads, hospitals, temples, churches, mosques , Kumbh Melas or any other jatras and wedding mantaps. This is the problem with we Indians that we never learn lessons even from our own experiences. What transfer of DC is now guaranteed as if you are going to issue his transfer order. In present circumstances one's own life is not guaranteed. Anyway any person doing rightful thing will always stays ready for such transfers in our administration system.

Our administration is very weak. Our administration and MCC officials ride at market road shops and seize the shops if they violate the rules, now the Temple authority has completely failed to obey Covid19 norms. Now the administration must seize the Temple and put lock and also havey fine along with the marriage party. This must be a lesson. Our administration must act immediately. That what I think.

Not required. When it is for others we raise voice, but if it's known people we support and don't protest. Social distancing should be followed that's it.

@ GR Prabhu You are absolutely 100% right.. but they won't seize the temple bcoz if it happens things will go beyond control...if it was other place of worship they would have done it by now...
