Mangaluru, Jun 20: The district administration along with officials from Mangaluru City Corporation on Sunday June 20 raided Shree Mangaladevi Temple premises for holding marriage ceremonies in violation of Covid lockdown restrictions.
Sources said that four marriages were being held at the wedding hall in the temple premises without permission from the district administration.
On receiving information about the same, the officials raided the spot and stopped the proceedings.
Speaking to daijiworld, deputy commissioner Dr K V Rajendra said that as the order of the state government, marriages are allowed only within homes in the presence of limited number of guests. Marriages are not permitted in public places like temples and halls, he said.
He also said that FIR will be registered against the persons concerned under karnataka Epidemic Diseases Act 2020 for violating Covid guidelines.
Assistant commissioners of revenue and religious endowment departments were part of the raid operation.
