Bengaluru: Mega vaccination camp from June 21, state aims 7 lac doses a day

Bengaluru, Jun 20: A mega Covid vaccination campaign will be flagged off on June 21 on the occasion of International Day of Yoga. The state government aims at administering five to seven lac doses of the vaccine on June 21, said health minister Dr Sudhakar.

Speaking at the press conference in the city, Dr Sudhakar said, "In the Covid vaccination campaign, vaccine will be administered to people in the age group of 18 to 44, those above 45 years of age and health workers. We have around 14 lac doses of Covishield vaccine in stock and plan to distribute seven lac doses on Monday, June 21 itself. Public has to cooperate with the administration. So far 1.80 crore vaccines are administered to the public.

"Discussion has been held with regard to third phase of unlocking. CM will be conveyed the action that needs to be taken district-wise depending on the percentage positivity rate. Right now the positivity rate in 16 districts of the state is below 5% and in 13 districts it hovers between 5 to 10%. In Mysuru district it is more than 10%," he said.

"Genomix committee has been formed to study the new variant of coronavirus of third wave. Expert committee will be formed in each district. This committee will give information to the district administration. Through this third wave of Covid will be controlled.

"A committee led by Dr Deviprasad Shetty has given preliminary report with regard to preparation for the third wave of Covid. It will be handed over to CM. After the final report, the suggestions will be implemented within 45 days. Delta virus is spreading fast. Instructions are given to conduct 1.5 lac tests everyday for the same purpose. Around 99.9% people who have taken two doses of Covid vaccine have not got any infection. Those who have got also did not incur any serious issues.

"Yoga day is celebrated throughout the world on June 21. This time around all have to celebrate the same at their homes. It is celebrated online. This day is celebrated under the slogan ‘Be with yoga, Be at home and Yoga for wellness.’ But this time around Yoga day should not be celebrated in groups. CM Yediyurappa will do yoga at his official residence. I will also participate in the same. All do yoga at 6 am at home and share the video.”

 

DK, Udupi districts to get double the amount of doses

The mega Covid vaccination camp will be held in twin districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi on Monday, June 21 and both districts will get double the amount of vaccines than usual supply.

Dakshina Kannada received on an average 13,000 to 15,000 doses of Covid vaccine everyday. On Monday, 30,000 doses of Covid vaccine will be administered to the public as per the information given by DC Dr Rajendra K V.

Udupi district gets a daily supply of 5,000 to 6,000 doses of vaccine. However, on Monday, in the wake of mega vaccination camp, the district will get 16,000 doses.

Vaccine is expected to arrive by evening of Sunday, June 20 and will be supplied to all vaccination centers on the morning of Monday, June 21.

    How come vaccination be given to private business hospitals? First the vaccination should be given through Government hospitals in a orderly manner.

    Only paid doses are available for 18 . When pvt hospitals can get the vaccine, why can't govt get the quantity? One more scam for sure.

    What you are saying is true, but for now as long as people are getting vaccinated we must be happy. Those who can't afford government is planning to provide mobile vaccination centers on the doorsteps to communities.
