Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Jun 19: Rs 4.80 lac is spent in three years on beautification of Raj Bhavan gardens which is beside Vidhana Soudha. In addition, an amount of Rs 3.27 crore from the state exchequer is used to maintain the garden. This information is revealed under RTI act.

Rs 11.59 lac is spent in three years on labour cost of daily wagers working at Raj Bhavan, Rs 2.95 crore is spent on master plan and development of park, Rs 15 lac is spent on vegetable seeds, Rs 52,000 is spent on fertilizers, red earth, brush cutter and power tiller. Rs 4.80 lac is spent on flower beautification of governor’s residence, dining hall, main office and VIP lounge. In total the amount spent is Rs 3.27 crore in three years.

Bhemappa Gadad, who had sought this information under RTI, has expressed shock that so much public money is being spent on beautification of gardens. He also says that he was shocked to see Rs five lac spent for just beautifying the flower pots.

Bheemappa also questioned the action of governor Vajubhai Vala not allowing the public to visit Raj Bhavan after he assumed charge in 2014. He says that this attitude of the governor clearly shows how much concern he has towards the people of Karnataka. He further questioned the working style of officers in Raj Bhavan and said that they are not people-friendly.

Public definitely can be allowed..only walking .. .not entertaining.. carts .. food .... only governors actual residence and whatever portion needed for security can be cordoned off On any VIP visit .. most important functions possibly only that day whole area cordoned off Bangalore choking for open lung space and will help ..possibly collect a small entrance fee which will offset maintenance.. It looks like we are not in a democracy Still British Raj ..
