Bengaluru, Jun 18: In a setback to neighbouring Tamil Nadu, the National Green Tribunal has rejected the complaints against the Mekedatu drinking water and irrigation proposed by Karnataka.
The National Green Tribunal has dismissed the objections and arguments by the Tamil Nadu government.
With this victory, Karnataka can go ahead with the Mekedatu project.
Deputy chief minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan has tweeted his welcome to the NGT dismissal of the Tamil Nadu case.
"With is major victory upholding Karnataka’s stand, the state government can go ahead with the implementation of the drinking water and irrigation project to benefit people of Bengaluru and neighbouring places,’’ Dr Narayan said.
