Kundapur: Central team visits cyclone-affected areas to assess damages

Kundapur, Jun 18: A survey team from the Centre visited the sea side, agricultural land and areas where houses had collapsed here due to Tauktae cyclone. The team inspected areas at Byndoor, Shirur, Uppunda and Maravanthe and collected details. The team was informed that property worth Rs 175 crore was destroyed.

The team of five members visited various places in the district and prepared an estimate of the loss.

Udupi deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha, additional deputy commissioner Sadashiva Prabhu, assistant commissioner K Raju, Byndoor tahsildar Shobha Laxmi and others were present with the central disaster management commissioner Dr Manoj who had come to survey the loss.

Dr Manoj said that the team has visited the two districts during the last two days and a department wise report on destruction will be submitted to the centre. “The central team will release the funds after study,” he said.

Jagadeesha said that a report of the damages has already been prepared. "The central team has been briefed about the loss due to the cyclone. The damaged areas will be reconstructed depending upon the central aid," he said.

    more cook spoil the food ? Cant DC is not enough to asses and finalize the estimation? Just a thought end of the day cyclone affected people mearly get any compensation after providing BPL card, ration card, income certificate, tax card , this and that.
