June 17: DK records 679 new corona cases, Udupi 162; 12 deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, June 17: Dakshina Kannada on Thursday, June 17 reported 679 new coronavirus cases and eleven deaths, while Udupi reported 162 fresh cases and one death.

As per the district health bulletin, a total of 9,33,125 samples have been tested so far, out of which 8,46,781 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 86,344 out of which 6,605 are currently active. The positivity rate of the district is 7.17%.

As many as 657 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday.

The district recorded eleven deaths due to coronavirus on Thursday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1009.

With cases steadily increasing, the district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 85,31,217 as fine in 70,541 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 6,46,310 samples have been tested so far.

As many as 162 new cases were reported on Thursday, taking the total number of cases to 64,828 out of which 2,312 are currently active.

A total of 317 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday.

Coronavirus has claimed 366 lives in the district so far, including one on Thursday.

Till now, 3,28,921 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 93,724 have received the second dose.

    That means lockdown is a failure in DK district. Or is this data is fudged for political convenience? Or it is due to overdose of lockdown?

    Despite of lockdown curfew etc Corona cases have not come down. Better withdraw lockdown .
