Bengaluru, Jun 17: Infections related to the second wave of the Covid pandemic is reducing in the state. In the wake of this certain economic activities can be restarted. Malls, restaurants, shopping complexes and wedding halls can be reopened from June 21. But only a limited number of people should be allowed. This advice was given by the technical expert committee on Covid to the state government.
The technical expert committee held a meeting in this regard and said, “In Unlock Phase II restaurants, malls, hair salons, spa and wedding halls can be allowed to function. But instructions should be given for only 50% occupancy. In addition, there should be a gap of two weeks between Unlock 2.0 and 3.0. It said that the infection will spread in these areas as more people will gather. The committee also advised the government to inspect those districts before Unlock 3.0, where the oxygen beds are below 60%."

The committee further advised the government that the night curfew should continue till June end. The second phase of Unlock will begin on June 21 while the third phase will start from July 5. People should be allowed to move around depending on the situation. It also suggested the government open gyms, yoga centres, religious places, movie halls, sports clubs, clubhouses and public toilets during Unlock 3.0. A separate decision will be taken with regards to night curfew and opening of schools and colleges.
Speaking after the meeting, Dr C N Manjunath, director of Jayadeva hospital said, “If the corona guidelines are not followed, the earlier situation is going to repeat. Rethinking should be done in opening malls, shopping complexes and markets. Only if the rate of infection is reducing these should be allowed to function in Bengaluru.”
