Mangaluru/Udupi, June 16: Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, June 16 reported 790 new coronavirus cases and ten deaths, while Udupi reported 159 fresh cases and two death.
As per the district health bulletin, a total of 9,23,688 samples have been tested so far, out of which 8,38,003 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 85,665 out of which 6,594 are currently active. The positivity rate of district is 12.72%.
As many as 966 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.
The district recorded ten deaths due to coronavirus on Wednesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 998.
With cases steadily increasing, the district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 84,72,367 as fine in 70,099 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 6,43,036 samples have been tested so far.
As many as 159 new cases were reported on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases to 64,666 out of which 2,468 are currently active.
A total of 372 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.
Coronavirus has claimed 365 lives in the district so far, including two on Wednesday.
Till now, 3,25,471 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 93,464 have received the second dose.
