Mangaluru: Govt making common man’s life miserable with fuel, power price hike - Ramanath Rai

Mangaluru, Jun 16: Former MLA Ramanath Rai said, “The central and the state government is making the lives of the common man miserable by increasing price of fuel and electricity respectively.

Addressing media here on Wednesday June 16, he said, “The government has failed in tackling corona pandemic and people are seen suffering due to it. Fuel price has increased 19 times in these testing times. Further, the price of electricity is also increased by 30 paise per unit without any reason. We do not have any scarcity of electricity as we produce up to 30,000 megawatt. The time Narendra Modi was in the opposition and price of petrol was Rs 70, he had said that if he comes to power, he would reduce the prices to make common man’s life easier.

“The state government is functioning like traders as they do not worry about the problems faced by people. During the time of the UPA government, the electricity supply company was doing well. But now, they are under loss. It is due to the inefficiency and corruption of the government who appease corporate companies. We demand to revoke the electricity price hike which is unscientific, discuss the issue with the opposition and take further action,” said Ramanath Rai.

Former MLA J R Lobo, district Congress president Harish Kumar, Congress leaders Shashidhar Hegde, Lawrence, Bhaskar Moily, Appi, Sahul Hameed and others were present.

Fuel prices simply because of taxes by Union govt and state taxes. Also political gimmicks. Let there be general elections and watch the price rebound 🤣

That time present Government members all came out and had big rallies throughout India, to protest in every city including S Irani also took the leading roll. Now when the price has gone up to 100, where are they?? Now they support the Government. That's why we call them Andha Bhaktas.

All the while the Congress were running after a BJP defeat rather than their revival . This includes even their great leader Pappu. He Congratulated Mamata Begum for defeating BJP. Now their survival is a question.

This important issue cannot be heard or answered by Modi because he is not the PM for all these matters infact he is the PM for namesake and employee of few. That is where he contributed round the clock for their progress.

These gimmics wont garner support and votes . Its an alarming situation . Yesterday NCP leader Sharad Pawar and strategist Prashanth Kishor had a long lunch meeting . This is to form a new 'federal front' for 2024. And that too without congress. The Congress has to now prove that its a major 'opposition' rather than a contender for the PM post . And here we have only press conference. Learn from Sharad Pawar guys!
