Leading Flight Cadet Hayyan, Cadet Manish, Cadet Joyel, Cadet Anusha, Cadet Sheryl, Cadet Pratheek and Cadet Kenneth have joined hands along with Alster for the noble cause of educating people during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The website throws light on information regarding the pandemic and how people can stay safe without getting infected. The website consists of contacts about the blood banks in the city, contact numbers of ambulance services, and contacts of oxygen supplying units. The website focuses mainly on the stages of transmission of the pandemic and provides information about different vaccines available in the country. In addition, the importance of one getting vaccinated is projected on the website. A checklist of symptoms to know if one has tested positive for Covid-19, and about plasma donation is also available. Interestingly, they have designed many posters creating awareness against the spread of the virus.
The website consists of several posters, articles and short videos educating people about Covid-19.
The cadets have taken this initiative after seeking permission from the associate NCC officer Alwyn Stephen Misquith. The YouTube channel of Air Wing NCC flight A also creates awareness on plantation drive and coronavirus awareness.
Speaking to daijiworld.com, Alister said, “We want to educate people during this pandemic. We were planning to reach them, but in this situation, reaching out to people physically is not so easy. So, we planned to design this website. Initially, it was a big challenge to design a website. After watching various tutorials, we finally succeeded.
"We have received good feedback from the public and our lecturers. Principal Fr Dr Praveen Martis SJ also supported us a lot in our task,” he said.
Associate NCC officer Alwyn Stephen Misquith said, "I had an idea and hence guided the cadets. Alister was innovative in it. After doing some research, he has designed this website. Usually, we do several activities through NCC. Hence, to keep it as a document, we did this too. Our commanding officer, group Capt AG Srinivasan, encouraged and appreciated our efforts."
Though people are at their homes during this pandemic, the young cadets have taken the initiative of educating people and how to be safe at home without being infected by the virus, in their own way.
