'Karnataka to further ease lockdown curbs after June 21': CM Yediyurappa

Bengaluru, Jun 15 (IANS): Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Tuesday said that the state is likely to relax the Covid-induced lockdown restrictions further after June 21.

Yediyurappa told the media that the lockdown curbs in Karnataka will come to an end on June 21 and after analysing the situation the state government will make a decision on easing the curbs.

"We will have to relax the present restrictions, but the question is how much to be done as the situation is improving," he said.

The Chief Minister added that he will make a decision in this regard only after consulting Karnataka's Covid-19 Technical Advisory Committee, his senior Ministers and other officials concerned by the end of this week.

Amid a rise in Covid cases, Karnataka has continued to enforce strict lockdown measures in 11 districts - Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Davangere, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Bengaluru Rural, Mandya, Belagavi and Kodagu.

However, in the remaining 19 districts, Karnataka has announced certain relaxations which include the opening of parks and industrial units with riders, extending the duration of shops selling essential goods till 2 pm, permission for autos and taxis to ply with a maximum of two passengers.

Currently, relaxation in lockdown measures is in place from June 14 to 21.

When the state came under the grip of the second Covid wave, Karnataka had initially announced 14 days 'Corona curfew' from April 27, but subsequently, it had to enforce a complete lockdown from May 10 to 24, as the state saw an exponential jump in Covid positive cases.

Dear Jay, You are right but the control you speak of, of setting up infrastructure to take care of worst case scenarios should have been put into place during the first 1-2 month planned (not arbitrary) lockdown period. None of the subsequent lockdowns, in the manner they have been executed in the world, can be substantiated as necessary. Even now, except for fighting fires and making arbitrary illogical rules, the govt and its experts are running in circles. Sorry, you see I am just an ordinary sovereign citizen of India who knows a little about how to read and write. I am not among the experts and intelligentia of the country . I can barely count beyond 1+1=2. Please help me with: Let us assume that 2 out of every hundred (2%) people are said to die of a certain disease, then does the percentage change as per the population of the place? If there are 100 people living in a small house(like the joint families in India) and 2 people die as against if there are 100,00,000 people living in a very very big house(whose ends we cannot even see) and 200,000 people die. Has the percentage changed? Does not 2 people out of 100 matter as much as the latter figure? Secondly, Why do politicians think that voters are smart enough to vote but dumb when it comes to managing their own life? This is atypical socialist, communist, paternalistic, authoritarian, feudal, Great – dictator in the sky type of thinking. Thirdly, the fact that I am still alive is proof that there was never any pandemic of the kind that the govt’s of the world would like us to believe. Fourthly, point out to me the percentage of VIP’s, Politicians in power, rich persons all over the world who had COVID and had access to good medical care and yet died solely from COVID and only COVID. The fact that Biden is still around to meet with Putin & Boris and that too without any “mask” should tell you a story by itself. Think. Unshackle yourself from the bondage of false propaganda. Ask questions.

absolutely right! sweden was the only country in the world that respected its citizens without imposing draconian lockdowns ,educated them and left them to decide to take their own precautions. That is the way of Freedom and Liberty.
