Jun 13: Recoveries outnumber new corona cases in DK, Udupi; five deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 13: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday June 13 reported 434 new coronavirus cases and one death, one of the lowest single-daily tallies since April, while Udupi too saw a decline with 223 new cases and four deaths.

As per the district health bulletin, a total of 8,98,129 samples have been tested so far, out of which 8,14,384 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 83,745, out of which 7,019 are currently active.


As many as 476 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 75,749.

The district recorded one death due to coronavirus on Sunday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 977, out of which two are non-Covid deaths.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 74,31,717 as fine in 63,361 incidents of mask violation.


Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 6,39,153 samples have been tested so far.

As many as 223 new cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 64,277, out of which 3,222 are currently active.

A total of 345 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 60,695.

Out of 223 new patients, 201 are in home isolation while 22 are in Covid-designated hospitals.

Among the 223, as many as 173 are asymptomatic.

While Udupi taluk reported 105 of the 223 cases, Kundapur recorded 61, Karkala 51, and six from outside the district.

Coronavirus has claimed 360 lives in the district so far, including four on Sunday. The four persons who died on Sunday were two women from Udupi and a man and a woman from Kundapur.

So far, 3,06,250 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 90,049 have received the second dose.

A total of 23 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the distrinct so far, out of which, seven are currently active.

    In spite of repeated requests the Test Positivity Rate is not being mentioned in the Corona cases round up of Dakshin Kannara.
